It's gotta be a play on words..right?

Right, but in a sense, you "shoot the chit" every time you find calm inside of you....Let's get academic for a moment...   Chit (also spelled cit) is a Sanskrit term that means "pure consciousness," "pure thought," and "to comprehend." It also refers to the true nature of the Self. Chit is the foundation for various states of consciousness.  Chit is not only associated with Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. It is a key component of yoga philosophy. (yogapedia)In yoga, we learn to use breath and movement, or sitting in meditation, or singing in Kirtan, to calm the fluctuations of the mind, which cause stress, suffering, anxiety, depression, misunderstandings, etc.

“Yogas chitta vritti nirodha.”

All yoga students learn this "sutra", or aphorism. It means that yoga calms the fluctuations of the mind. So...when we SHOOT THE CHIT...we are talking about ideas, tips, methods, ways to help calm the NIRODHA mind...the nervous/fluctuating mind...

WE ALL WANT CHIT...But you have to let go of your SHIT to get CHIT...

IN YOGA, THE JOURNEY AND PROCESS OF CALMING THE MIND IS THE PRACTICE..
