I'M NOT FLEXIBLE...I'M TOO HEAVY...MY LIFESTYLE ISN'T "YOGA"...I CAN'T GO BAREFOOT!...I'm NOT paying $20 a class!!!...I'm NOT SQUEEZING into yoga clothes...Yoga is too easy...Yoga is too hard...Everyone in class will be watching and judging me...I don't want the teacher to notice me!....I have injury/illness...I'm not a hippie!...I don't want to chant or get involved with another "religion"...I don't have the time...

Sound like someone you know...(or you)?  If so....have no worries; you are in good company. Ironically, these very misconceptions of the mind is the thing that yoga works on the best....

So here's what all those who want to begin their yoga practice should know about yoga...

1. You begin yoga BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT FLEXIBLE....2. There are all shapes and sizes in the typical yoga class. Relaxing will help you destress and LOSE MORE WEIGHT...Yoga is about non judgement, nonviolence...do not do harm to yourself by continuing negative self talk...3. No one's life style is always yoga...we are all human...even the yoga teachers...Come as you are...that will be considered "perfect". 4. No one thinks their feet are pretty.  No one will have time to look at your feet.  Come with clean, clipped toenails...that's your only responsibility!!  5. Yoga is not always $20 a class. Online classes right now are less expensive, there are class packages..and MOST STUDIOS WILL HELP YOU WITH A DEAL...It is the yogi code that yoga should be accessible to everyone.  6. Yoga is NOT TOO EASY OR TOO HARD...You are in control of what you do on your mat...Yoga should always feel "just right". You are in control. 7. Everyone will make a mistake, fall, stumble, lose balance...and watch how many do it WITH A LIGHT HEART...This is a lesson of yoga. Laugh at yourself...No one else will be...As a yogi once told me, "smile...it's just yoga..."8. Your teacher will not embarrass you. He or she is just as reluctant to single out...If you get some guidance, try looking at it with gratitude. In yoga it is a gift. 9. All walks of life take yoga, not just hippy bohemians with tattoos....You will find teachers, bankers, moms, all types of people need calm and balance in their lives. 10. You are too sick? You have chronic pain? There is a type of yoga for everyone...Even meditation is accessible to most. Yoga heals..it has been proven. If you are ill, all the more reason to get help starting a yoga journey. and lastly...11. When do you ever do anything for yourself???? Run towards what scares you and the jewel you will find is calm, reduced anxiety, peace of mind, strength and flexibility...Did I convince you??? Start your yoga journey today!!!
